Jet Set Series: Stuffed in Seattle

Who would have thought that the EA crew would be frequenting to Seattle as often as we have in the last few months? Fresh off a return a week ago, another EA team is traveling back to the city at the end of the week for a presentation.

A couple weeks ago, I traveled with two of our Sales Managers, Kat Greis and Lucy Stratton, to attend the 2009 Microsoft Vendor Showcase in Redmond. While we were there for business, we didn’t miss an opportunity to take in the sights, culture, and of course, the tastes of Seattle.

Of course we had to check out Pike Place Market, the fresh fish and produce market Seattle is known for. Handsome young men stand at their fresh produce stands offering tastes of sweet fruits. Our first stop at Pike Place was the ever-famous Pike Place Fish Market. Guys dressed in heavy sweatshirts, rubber pants and boots are yelling and throwing around garlic-and-pepper smoked salmon and the fresh catch of the day.

We did lunch like a local and parked it at Howell’s Fish Fry. Clam strips, grilled fish platters and creamy bowls of New England clam chowder are how you do it in Seattle.

Other noteworthy stops at Pike Place included Peroshky’s for Russian baked goods, Beecher’s for homemade cheese curds (you see them making cheese from the street window), and the original Starbucks, home of their Pike Place Roast.

For dinner we checked out the Belltown area of the city and refueled at Restaurant Zoe for fine American cuisine including fresh ricotta gnudi, wild mushroom risotto, spicy wild boar Bolognese and pancetta braised brussel sprouts. We left with satisfied stomachs and slept easy that night—no sleepless in Seattle for us!

Of course we always have Flip camera in tow, so be sure to check out highlights from Pike Place Market here
