Keeping a List and checking it twice? Mac Things Product Review

I’m a person who gets really excited about office products.  I get goose bumps when I see a new cool pen or someone shows me their daily organizer.  I just can’t get enough of it.  The thought that this simple little object could transform me into a highly organized and efficient machine at work excites me.  A direct side effect of this highly delusional thinking is I’ve been able to sample just about every product out there.

A year ago I was in the market for a personal task management system, which utilized the highly popular, though life altering, Getting Things Done theory as its organizational platform.  After weeks of research I finally decided to try Mac Things developed by Culture Code. The reviews were stellar and the price point was spot on -  $49.99.

In the event industry, no matter which aspect you’re a part of there are a million moving parts at all times.   A written list isn’t always the best vehicle to maintain your daily to-dos, but I admit we’re probably all victims of it – I am.  In an effort to minimize this practice I took everything digital.  Things not only has computer based application, but also a iPhone application for when you’re on the go - PERFECT.   This way you’re synced at all times and you know exactly what it is you need to do.

Things allows you to maintain projects, assign tasks to others, prioritize items, the list seriously goes on and on.  If there’s anything you need to know about the programs function or organizational theory the user based forums found on the Things site are jammed packed with ideas.

Another big selling point for me was the way the program is displayed – it’s pretty … and pretty easy to learn too.   They streamlined the process for entering tasks to the point you’d be crazy if you picked up another pad and pencil to chart out your to do’s.

I know there are a million other similar programs out there, but Things has really risen to the top of the pack in my opinion. Culture Code has also been kind enough to allow you a free trial.  Enough said …. Two thumbs up!  Give it a shot.
