"If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded."

    - Maya Angelou

At the heart of Event Architects is the spirit of giving back.  Creating and honoring relationships is viewed as a building block of our success.  In helping and caring for our clients, family and friends, many staff members go one step farther and help their communities in many different ways.  This post features a few Event Architects team members and their current volunteer contributions. Stay tuned for more!

Margaret Carey, Accounting Manager

DJP Foundation: Over the past several years, Margaret has volunteered at their annual event at Joe’s on Weed Street and by participating in the annual run/walks.

For Julie Foundation: Margaret assists in the execution of the annual July benefit, "Friday for Julie" Walk and Fundraiser, which raises funds to assist in the battle against leukemia and other blood cancers.

Terry Castre, Event Technology Specialist

Centegra Hospital – McHenry: Every Saturday Terry works in the Cardiac testing unit, mainly transporting patients to and from stress testing, nuclear medicine and ultrasound. It is a very busy unit of the hospital, and he contributes to the team by allowing the nursing staff to focus on the patients and the tests at hand.

Gary Chichester, Event Producer

Howard Brown Health Clinic, Lakeview East Development Corporation, The Names Project, NortHalsted Area Merchants Association: Gary Chichester is a firm believer in volunteerism and has assisted numerous diverse community-based and national service organizations and has helped to raise much needed funding for the fight against HIV/AIDS. In 1989, Mayor Richard M. Daley appointed him to an advisory post with the Chicago Commission on Human Relations.  He still serves in that position.

Mary Fuller, Senior Sales Manager

Public Action to Deliver Shelter (PADS): Volunteering with her parents at First United Methodist Church in Oak Park, Mary helps to set up the mattresses, pass out pillows and blankets and help serve dinner to homeless who stay there.

Katharine Greis, Sales Manager

Young Professionals Chapter Lyric Opera of Chicago: Along with Caitlin Monaghan, Marketing Manager at Event Architects, Katharine is a board member of the Young Professional Chapter at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Katharine plans Chapter events, encourages members to get involved and brings in new members and manages chapter funds as the Membership Chair and Treasurer.  She was able to take advantage of Event Architects’ River North location by hosting the End of Season reception at Event Architects offices.

Gabrielle Martinez, Chief Creative Officer

Share our Strength: Gabrielle, along with her daughter Sophia, co-chaired the "Kids Cook-Off" event, a new event for this organization, at Kendall College in June 2009. The event featured an Iron Chef format for kids! Share our Strength is a national organization that fights childhood hunger.  It works with the culinary industry to create engaging programs with local nonprofits. It has raised over $245 million and has awarded grants to over 1,000 local nonprofits. Read more here

Emily Olson, Senior Sales Manager

JUF TOV Volunteer Network: Emily recently joined a volunteer network that offers a variety of volunteer opportunities throughout the Chicagoland area.  Some of her favorite opportunities involve working with a team that packs and delivers care packages to and visits with patients every Friday at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and preparing and serving hot meals to families.

Erin Trimble, Event Producer

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer: Erin volunteered weekly at the Walk’s head office leading up to the event, raised funds toward cancer research and then she walked 39 miles in 2 days!
