January 13, 2009 -- Chicago-based Event Architects, an event management and production company (www.event-architects.com) has been tapped by the Presidential Inauguration Committee (PIC) to produce a series of official Inauguration Events in Washington DC for President-elect Barack Obama's inaugural celebration. Event Architects is the only Chicago based event company tapped for event planning and production of official PIC events. Details of the events follow:
- Saturday, January 17, Welcome Concert with A-list talent
- Sunday, January 18, Welcome Breakfast with A-list talent
- Monday, January 19, (3) Bipartisan Dinners at the Washington Hilton, Union Station and the National Building Museum honoring Senator John McCain, General Colin Powell and Vice President-elect Joe Biden, and all attended by the President elect and Vice President-elect. Each honoree is being recognized for his service to his country and placing the interests of America before issues of political party
- Tuesday, January 20; Logistics surrounding the Inaugural Parade and Swearing In Ceremony, and the hospitality extended to NFC donors
- Tuesday, January 20; The Commander in Chief's Ball - this Inaugural Ball hosts active and retired military personnel and their guests
Brought in only three weeks ago, Event Architects has the expertise and ability to move large events forward quickly and in a discerning way. Their deep expertise in event design, lighting, audio visual, logistics, transportation, entertainment management, off premise catering and menu design as well as budget management make them natural picks for this exciting challenge. With just over one week to go, hundreds of details must come together. All of the event designs are sleek and minimal as a reflection of the times, as well as modern and forward thinking to mark this new beginning for our country. Many of the floral elements are to be reused at more than one event, and then donated to area non-profits as just one example of the respectful use of the resources throughout these projects.
Some Event Fun Facts:
- More than 10,000 floral buds - including roses, baby hydrangea, poppy pods, and carnations, will be used for the Bipartisan Dinners and Welcome Breakfast
- The Bipartisan dinners will be candlelit
- The Inaugural Committee Seal is incorporated into all event design down to the glass cylinders holding the floating votive candles for the Dinners
- "Wheat" as a symbol of prosperity is incorporated into the Union Station dinner design theme
