CHICAGO, IL - Fergus Rooney and Event Architects accepted the NICE award for BEST CORPORATE EVENT OVER $75,000 for event designs involved with the 14th ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION OF THE BIOTECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY ORGANIZATION (BIO) in April 2006. The Chicago Chapters of NACE (National Association of Catering Executives) and ISES (International Special Events Society) held their annual 2007 NICE Award (NACE ISES Chicago Excellence Award) celebration and dinner on February 27, 2007 at the Grand Piazza Chicago. Winning event entries are judged on merit in accordance with established criteria based on their ability to meet their objectives, originality and creativity, integration of event elements, event execution, collateral materials, quality and attention to detail, as well as whether or not the event concept and challenges were achieved and/or overcome. The14th ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION OF THE BIOTECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY ORGANIZATION (BIO) welcomed a record 19,479 attendees from 62 countries for the 2006 convention in Chicago. Event Architects was selected to produce four social events for convention guests on April 9, 11, & 12, 2006. For biotechnology professionals, this annual gathering is the industry's preeminent networking forum. The Welcome Reception at Navy Pier turned the Grand Ballroom into a Fantasia-inspired spectacle, where a white tuxedo-clad conductor atop a towering truss directed dancers and musicians on three multi-leveled stages at separate ends of the round ballroom. Lakeview terrace became a classic Chicago piano lounge, where three pianists entertained and encouraged guests to sing along. Table runners displaying a jazz-themed black and white photograph collage topped long walnut tables. The CEO Reception at the stunning and exclusive Lyric Opera House occurred simultaneously with the Gala Reception at the Field Museum. VIP guests enjoyed a raw bar set out on custom blocks of ice at the Opera House while 3,700 attendees enjoyed the African oasis décor and non-stop entertainment at the Field Museum. Guests arrived beneath the glittering Chicago Theatre marquee for a speakeasy-themed Closing Gala. Karaoke, casino games, fortune tellers and magicians entertained guests throughout the three floors of red-carpeted lobbies. Live bands and a DJ performed throughout the night.
